Modelling and simulation of a jet fan for controlled air flow in large enclosures

چکیده
Jet fans are applied for control of air flow and support of pollutant dispersal in large enclosures. In The Netherlands, application is well known for car parks as part of the fire safety design. In the design phase often the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)-technique is used to verify the fire safety level afforded by the application of jet fans. However, very little is known on the modelling requirements of jet fans in CFD. This includes paucity on experimental data that can be applied for validation of the jet fan model. In this study results are presented of measurements for a specific type of jet fan in a large enclosure and of validation of modelling characteristics of the jet fan in CFD. Both free and near-wall positioning have been investigated and a modelling proposal is made. For the modelling of the jet fan, point-of-departure is a low complexity, as the model generally will have to be included in large computational domains. Applicability of the developed approach and assessment of efficiency of jet fan positioning in large enclosures is shown through a case study. (2011). Effect of Blade Design Parameters on Air Flow through an Axial Fan
The objective of this paper is the numerical study of the flow through an axial fan and examining the effects of blade design parameters on the performance of the fan. The axial fan is extensively used for cooling of the electronic devices and servers. Simulation of the three-dimensional incompressible turbulent flow was conducted by numerical solution of the (RANS) equations for a model. The S...
متن کاملLarge eddy simulation of propane combustion in a planar trapped vortex combustor
Propane combustion in a trapped vortex combustor (TVC) is characterized via large eddy simulation coupled with filtered mass density function. A computational algorithm based on high order finite difference (FD) schemes, is employed to solve the Eulerian filtered compressible Navier-Stokes equations. In contrast, a Lagrangian Monte-Carlo solver based on the filtered mass density function is inv...
متن کاملPhysical Modelling of Self-Aeration in a Cavitating Sudden PIPE Expansion Flow
Sudden pipe expansions have been known as efficient hydraulic energy dissipaters for a long time. The complex phenomenon of flow separation and velocity discontinuity at the interface of incoming jet and the recirculation flow, results in intensive shear and tensile rupture of the fluid and the associated destructive phenomenon of cavitation. This paper focuses on aeration in sudden pipe expans...
متن کاملSimulation Model for Weft Yarn Motion in a Single-Nozzle Air-Jet Loom
Air-jet weaving is an advanced weaving method with high efficiency and productivity. It is one of the most widely used methods of weaving in the world. In air-jet filling insertion, the motion of weft yarn is caused by friction between weft yarn and air blown through nozzle. After declamping and subjecting the yarn to air stream, its motion is not active but very complicated and influenced by ...
